ETHICS
COMMITEE TERMS OF REFERENCE
The Ethics Committee if ICOM shall consider all matters relating
to museum professional ethics referred to it by the Executive
Council and the different national and international components
of the Organization. Exceptionally, any member of ICOM may
also refer an important matter to the Committee.
The Committee's mission is:
- To
monitor the application of ICOM's Code of Professional Ethics,
to inform the Executive Council of serious violations of
the Code, and to eventually request that its recommendations
concerning certain cases be published in ICOM News;
- To
recommend to the Executive Council, the Advisory Committee
and eventually the General Assembly any changes or additions
to the Code of Professional Ethics that may be found necessary;
- To
review on behalf of ICOM other Codes of Ethics that may
be developed by the subordinate bodies of ICOM, especially
the International Committees, concerning their special fields
of interest and/or expertise;
- To
report to the Executive Council on any matters relating
to the Code of Ethics or its application that the Committee
thinks appropriate;

To submit a general report on its work during the preceding
triennium to each General Assembly of ICOM.
