17 February 2012 - The application procedure for the organisation of ICOM’s 24th General Conference in 2016 continues. In November 2011, five cities announced their intention to submit their candidacy to organise the General Conference: Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Accra (Ghana), Abu Dhabi (UAE), Milan (Italy) and Moscow (Russia).
Finally, three cities submitted their completed application and henceforth figure in the final selection which will be submitted to vote. At the end of the annual June meeting, the host city of the 2016 General Conference will be announced.
The June meetings will take place in Paris, France from the 4-6 June, 2012.
The next General Conference will take place in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) from 10-17 August, 2013.
