The year 2014 will see a variety of conferences and events organised by ICOM’s Committees that will be held all over the world.

From Senegal to Georgia, ICOM's National and International Committees and ICOM's Affiliated Organisations have decided to meet for their 2014 annual meetings to discuss trends, challenges and perspectives for their profession.

Some of ICOM’s Committees are meeting jointly to discuss together issues of common concern. The International Committee for Education and Cultural Action (CECA) and the International Committee for University Museums and Collections (UMAC) will organise a seminar from 9-14 October in Alexandria, Egypt, about the subject Squaring the circle? Research, Museum, Public. The National Committees from Russia, Germany and USA will gather for the first time in a conference about the topic Museums and policies from 9-14 September in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

The year 2014 will also be marked by extraordinary events: the International Committee for Conservation (ICOM-CC) will hold its triennial conference from 15-19 September in Melbourne, Australia, and its workgroups will discuss the subject Building a strong culture through conservation, and the International Committee for Museum Security (ICMS) will celebrate its 40th anniversary during its annual conference from 8-12 October in Copenhagen, Denmark.

These meetings will be an opportunity for the participants to exchange their points of view with colleagues from all over the world, to examine case studies and to attend presentations. These events will also be an opportunity to discover local and national museum panoramas and to make contacts with professionals from the host country and the surrounding region.

A complete list of the meetings is available on the ICOM website at: http://icom.museum/events/calendar/2014/
