The traditional Lake Constance meetings of Bodensee Symposium between the German, Austrian and Swiss National Committees will be organised this year in Austria, from 21 to 23 June 2012, in Wolfurt near Bregenz.
20 June 2012 - Seeing the world in a different way upon leaving the museum: is this utopian, or a Basic museum function? This year, the conference will be devoted to the museum artefacts and their effects on visitors.
Around the central theme “The artefact’s potential”, speakers from Austria, Germany and Switzerland will offer different points of view. John-Dylan Haynes of the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience in Berlin will start the discussion on the theme “Brain, cognition and arts”; Barbara Keller of the Swiss Alpine Museum will present the concept behind new museum’s exhibition “Moving Mountains. An assessment; and Werner Schweibenz of the University of Constance will speak on the theme Museum Artefacts in the digital era”.
The president of ICOM Dr Hans-Martin Hinz, has been invited to participate in discussions organised by ICOM Germany, ICOM Austria and ICOM Switzerland as part of these joint meetings.
