In 2017, for the second time, ICOM will participate in the “Portable Museum” (Musées (em)portables) Festival, through the creation of a special “ICOM Museums for All” award in 2016.
The prize rewards films addressing how “non-traditional” audiences – socially marginalised groups, disabled people, immigrants, rural inhabitants, etc. – relate to museums, with sensitive and original takes on the theme. The inauguration of the ICOM Museums for All Prize is part of ICOM’s efforts to make museums appealing to all publics. The competition is open to individual and group participants. The selected film will be broadcast widely through ICOM’s international channels.

The festival has been open since the date of its official launch, 1 July, 2016. The deadline to submit your film is 1 December, 2016 (date as per postmark).
The Festival’s jury includes ICOM Director General, Anne-Catherine Robert-Hauglustaine, and will proceed with the final selection. All submissions short-listed by the jury will be screened during Sitem from 10 to 12 January, 2017 at the Docks, in the Cité de la Mode et du Design in Paris, France. The award ceremony will be hosted in the same venue on 11 January at 12:00pm.
The International Council of Museums will give out an overall sum of €2,000 as follows: €1,000 for the selected films and €500 euro for the two runners-up.
