September 2010 - Since May, ICOM has participated in the Shanghai 2010 World Expo. Each month, it focused on a particular region of the world. In July and August, North America, Latin America and the Caribbean have been under the spotlight on the ICOM Pavilion.
Also, in July, Canadian experts from CECA, ICOM’s International Committee for Education and Cultural Action, offered a range of activities where wildlife, flora and archaeological objects from North America were presented to visitors, in addition to a workshop on making traditional Native Americans bracelets, a “Trip to the Inuits” activity and maple syrup tasting.
Thanks to the partnership established with the Argentina, Brazil and Colombia Pavilions, the ICOM Pavilion welcomed many visitors to witness a tango performance by two Argentinian dancers, two traditional music performances from the Minas Gerais region by the Chico Lobo band (Brazil), and the screening of a 3D short-movie “Colombia, a multi-faceted country” followed by a traditional Colombian dance.
