She takes over from Mr Julien Anfruns, who left the organisation and returned to the French Ministry of Culture after several years of service to ICOM and a phase of transformation and development.

Mrs Hanna Pennock worked for 10 years as a researcher, exhibition organiser, coordinator, editor and curator in several Dutch museums, including the Van Gogh Museum, Noordbrabants Museum, Dordrechts Museum and Museum Mesdag. She then worked for 15 years as inspector of state collections, after which she became Senior Specialist and Programme Manager Safe Heritage at the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. Mrs Hanna Pennock has been very involved in ICOM’s activities for many years, particularly as Board member of ICOM International Committee for Museum Security (2004-2007) and as an elected member of ICOM Executive Council from 2007 to 2013.

Mrs Hanna Pennock’s mandate will last until the end of the year 2013 and consists in managing ICOM General Secretariat, ensuring the smooth running of the General Conference in Rio de Janeiro (August, 2013), and maintaining close relations with ICOM partners.
