The International Museum Day 2011 website goes live

The International Museum Day 2011 website is now online. Activities organised by museums worldwide on this occasion are already detailed on this new website.

The International Council of Museums has created an innovative and attractive website, available in three languages (English, French and Spanish), dedicated to this important day for the international museum community. Here you can find all sorts of information about International Museum Day 2011, including the theme, activities, images of the 2010 edition and a schedule of the different programmes
worldwide. You also can download the official poster, already available in 26 languages.

International Museum Day will be celebrated worldwide on 18 May, 2011 on the theme, Museum and Memory. This year, the African continent and its rich natural and cultural heritage will be honored.

For the first time, ICOM has developed institutional partners for the event, such as the UNESCO “Memory of the World” programme, the Co-ordinating Council of Audiovisual Archives Associations (CCAAA), the International Council on Archives (ICA), the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) and the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA).

In addition, the European Night of Museums, of which ICOM is a patron, will announce International Museum Day in the spirit of an all-day and all-night museum week.
