Synopsis This publication brings together papers presented by European and Latin American museum professionals at the 2nd Museology Research Seminar for Spanish and Portuguese-speaking countries, held from 27 to 29 September, 2010 in Buenos Aires (Argentina). The publication reveals the importance of research and development within the field of museology in the participating countries (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Portugal, Spain and Venezuela). It notably deals with topics such as intangible heritage, ethics, the social responsibility of museums and social inclusion, highlighting the importance of studies, documentation and preservation as the fundamental conditions for the development of any museum project. Emphasis is also placed on themes such as concern for social consciousness and the maturation of the profession.
