Synopsis	The 39th CIMUSET annual meeting was held in Brno in June 2011. The theme of the conference was "Technical museums as guardians and educators". The speakers looked at the history of technical museums and the role of the collections and objects of technical museums in a changing social environment. They also examined the future of science museums and science centres at a time when museums have to face a number of significant challenges in order to continue to carry out their functions.
