ICTOP's primary aim is to promote training and professional development and to establish standards for museum personnel throughout their careers. The Committee publishes the International Directory of Museum Training as well as a newsletter twice a year and it organises an annual meeting. ICTOP also acts as an advisor for the establishment of syllabi for personnel training and works closely with other ICOM Committees to achieve its goals.
