As forum of experts, it makes recommendations on issues related to cultural heritage, promotes capacity building and advances knowledge.\u00a0ICOM is the voice of museum professionals on international stage and raises public cultural awareness through global networks and co-operation programmes.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>60 410<\/strong>\u00a0professionals<\/li>\n<li>in <strong>139<\/strong> countries and territories<\/li>\n<li>with <strong>120<\/strong>\u00a0national committees<\/li>\n<li>and <strong>35<\/strong>\u00a0international committees<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoListParagraph\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><strong>8<\/strong> Regional Alliances<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoListParagraph\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><strong>21<\/strong> Affiliated Organisations<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ICOM is the only global organisation in the museum field.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\">\n<p><strong>ICOM&#8217;s Missions<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>ICOM has five main missions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>establish standards of excellence<\/li>\n<li>lead a diplomatic forum<\/li>\n<li>develop a professional network<\/li>\n<li>lead a global think tank<\/li>\n<li>carry out international missions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"separator\">\n<p><strong>ICOM\u2019s Strategic Plan 2022-2028<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The ICOM 2022-28 Strategic Plan was approved at the 37th General Assembly, held on August 24th during ICOM Prague 2022. The Plan was drafted by the Strategic Plan Standing Committee, which designed this plan following a participative process that involved ICOM Members, the Advisory Council, the Executive Board and the Secretariat.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"link_blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/icom.museum\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/ICOM-SP-Booklet-EN.pdf\">2022-28 Strategic Plan<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"link_yellow\"><a href=\"https:\/\/icom.museum\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/ICOM-SP-One-Pager-EN.pdf\">Summary \u2014 One-Page<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"link_red\"><a href=\"https:\/\/icom.museum\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Infographic-SPC.pdf\">Infographic<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\">\n<p><strong>ICOM Statutes<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Statutes of the International Council of Museums is the basic document of the Organisation.
