Synopsis: The conference was dedicated to the sustainability of collectiong and collections, linked to the theme of 2015 International Museum Day. In his paper Kidong Bae shows how the history of collections reflects social changes. The Republic of Korea has more private museums than the United States and Germany. In the chapter on the sustainability and accessibility of intangible collections, the papers reflect on fundamental museological questions. Other chapters are dedicated to new approaches towards collecting and collection development, and to the (re)interpretation of collections.
