Synopsis: This collection of papers originates from the trend to consider the growing change in ethnographic museums at the professional meetings of ICOM International Committee for Museums of Ethnography (ICME), and especially at the 2009, 2010 and 2011 meetings on the theme of Challenging Museums/Challenging the Museums. The essays, however, are not about ethnography. They highlight contested truths, the absence of the truth of the underprivileged, whether one truth is more worthy than the other. None of the chapters of this publication were written with Museums and Truth as a theme, but they were selected because they deal with how museums handle the reality. The book comprises four parts: Truths; Faiths and Realities; Museums and 'Difficult' Heritage; Coping with Old Realities I the New Settings; and Emerging Postnormality in Museums?
