Network ICOM Annual Report 2024 is now online!

The International Council of Museums (ICOM) is pleased to share the activities and projects carried out within the museum network during 2024.

The 2024 Annual Report demonstrates our community’s commitment in putting the future of museums into action and reaffirms our collective determination to co-create, rethink and innovate. As we approach the 80th anniversary of ICOM, the report is also a moment to acknowledge the continued resilience, creativity, and determination of the global museum community.

2024 was marked by the consolidation of partnerships, expanded global engagement, and meaningful contributions to international cultural policy as ICOM is in unique position to champion culture as a catalyst for sustainability, education and peace. At the G20 Culture Ministers’ Meeting in Brazil to COP29 in Azerbaijan, ICOM advocated for the museums to be recognized as vital players in global climate action and cultural diplomacy.

Highlights include the continued implementation of the ICOM Strategic Plan 2022–2028, a 5,6% increase in membership and greater participation across all regions, the rollout of key initiatives such as the ICOM Award for Sustainable Development Practice in Museums, with its first edition to be celebrated at the 27th ICOM General Conference in Dubai in 2025, the Annual Meetings held in Marseille, the International Museum Day 2024, and the advancement of the Code of Ethics revision process that ensures the revised Code reflects the shared ethical values and priorities of the global museum community.

Let it inspire the global museum community to evolve and support museums as spaces for greater dialogue, innovation, and inclusion.

We thank ICOM members and our partners for their continued engagement and support.
