We are pleased to announce the publication of the conference proceedings To the Museums, Citizens! Museums and Citizenship: Experiences, Concepts and Challenges, edited by Luís Raposo, Jody Steiger and Deborah Tout-Smith.
This publication brings together compelling case studies and reflections from the international museum conference held in Lisbon, in April 2024. This conference commemorated the 50th anniversary of Portugal’s Carnation Revolution and was jointly organised by the ICOM Executive Board, ICOM Europe and ICOM Portugal. The papers presented at the conference, and included in this publication, reflect cultural heritage’s vital role in human rights and democracy and offer global insights into the relationship between museums and citizens.
The book is freely available in our online library
