Synopsis: The 17th Triennial Conference was the first meeting held since the change in statutes and of the name of the ex-IAMAM, now wholly an ICOM International Committee with the following designation: ICOMAM - ICOM International Committee for Museums of Arms and Military History. The papers presented reflect the preoccupations of museum professionals working in arms museums and military history museums in a world and at a time when the public attitude with regard to the arms market and the possession of firearms by civilians has changed. In order to continue their existence and attract visitors, these museums must transform to echo this change.
Description: military history museums or collections; display; international committees; meetings.
