The Standing Committee of Ethics (ETHCOM) welcomed ICOM members to a global webinar on the Revision of ICOM Code of Ethics on March 17.
The webinar launched the 4th consultation phase of the ICOM Code of Ethics revision, focusing on explaining the revision process and presenting the second draft of the revised Code.
Based on a transparent and inclusive methodology of three consultations so far, ETHCOM is revising the Code of Ethics, under the principal goal of guiding museums and museum professionals to navigate the ethical challenges of the first part of the 21st century. Developed in alignment with the new museum definition and grounded in the values shared by the international museum community, the revised code outlines five core principles that build upon the 2004 code.
ICOM members are encouraged to share their valuable feedback on the second draft of the revised Code of Ethics for Museums during the 4th and final consultation phase of the revision process, lasting one month and a half.
