ICOM Award for Sustainable Development Practice in Museums – Longlist of eligible projects
As a global organisation, ICOM is committed to highlighting the essential role that museums play in advancing sustainable development. Through this work, we aim to inspire museums and museum professionals worldwide to begin—or to strengthen—their efforts to integrate sustainable development into their practices.
To further this goal, ICOM launched the ICOM Award for Sustainable Development Practice in Museums—the first global award that recognises innovative initiatives and exemplary practices that contribute meaningfully to sustainable development within the museum sector.
Following the call for applications in 2024, and with the valued support of our ICOM Bodies, the ICOM Award received 130 eligible submissions from 60 countries—a powerful demonstration of the sector’s engagement with the Sustainable Development Goals. This longlist reflects the diversity, creativity, and commitment of museums across the globe. It stands as a tribute to the professionals and institutions working to harness the potential of museums in building a more sustainable and equitable future.
