NetworkParticipate in the revision of ICOM’s Code of Ethics for Museums!

The Standing Committee on Ethics (ETHCOM) is revising the ICOM Code of Ethics for Museums, one of ICOM’s fundamental documents. The consultation has been extended until the 30th of November 2023.

Members are invited to participate through their committees, we encourage them to contact their national or international committee, regional alliance or affiliated organization.

The outline of the code was created using the guidance ETHCOM received from its first and second consultations. The results of that outreach are also available on memberspace.  The outline consists of a list of topics and statements relating to those topics.  These were identified by the ICOM membership as important to museum work today. With comments on the outline from the third consultation, ETHCOM will create a draft of the Code of Ethics which will be subject to a consultation in 2024.  ETHCOM expects to have the revised Code of Ethics ready for approval by the triennial meeting in 2025.

ETHCOM encourages your participation in this consultation. Please use the following format to give your feedback and contact your committees:
